About
What were you doing in 6th-8th grade? Did you have a lot of role models, community support or just anyone to motivate you? Some kids espeically young females don’t have this on a daily basis. This is why my good friend Kimberly Washington has started the I AM PROJECT. My goal is to help her get the word out and market this as a great community project to steer young teenage girls in the right direction. We are in the process of builiding a website but below is just some initial information about the project.
The I AM Project is an empowerment program offered to 6th, 7th and 8th grade female students at Whatley Middle School, every other Thursday, from 1:30-2:45 pm, beginning December 3rd, 2009.
Four goals of …I AM Project:
Goal 1: Encourage students to become community leaders.
Goal 2: Motivate responsibility and accountability in behavior and actions.
Goal 3: Commit to serving the community through volunteerism.
Goal 4: Dedicate themselves to improving their academics.
The I AM Project wants participating students to be dedicated and committed to the Project goals. The first class will begin December 3rd, 2009 and we encourage the girls to continue until the conclusion of the program in June, 2010.
